Fourquevaux
An unfathomable number of hashers, made up of long returners, virgins and visitors (it was great to see so many people there!!), joined us for Hash Number 272 hared by VC along a precarious trail in the beautiful countryside of south eastern Toulouse. As usual VC had set a mammoth challenge helped along by the June heat, although with the questionable marking for the so-called ‘Wanker’ trail resulting in some walkers doing more distance than even the runners did, so bravo to them for this unexpected hard work.
In the circle VC was rewarded for his excellent hash yet punished for his questionable marking strategy. Glory Hole joined him as a punishment for ‘sub-contracting’ haring duties to VC after promising to hare the June hash himself.
Next order of business was to reward the RA for bringing us the glorious weather but also to hear his tales of the Infamous Helgoland Hash which took place a few weeks back – apparently “there was a hash” and this is all we know about it 😊. It was no good asking Cheesy Lollipop as he doesn’t remember even being on an island for a weekend………………so I guess we’ll never know………….well until we see ET on the next occasion.
The usual reward/punishment theme continued with the ‘no head gear in the circle’, no hash attire, etc. before we got down to the business of not one but 2 naming ceremonies, ordained by our RA, It’s Complicated. First on the mark was none other than mini It’s Complicated himself, young Just Tim who has now completed his 5th hash. Despite introducing himself in French, he gave us a performance of his trademark forehead/fringe dance move which lead us to 2 contending names – Flex Machine or 2/Too Complicated. Despite the majority vote being for the former, post hash we have agreed to select 2 Complicated as his name as he wasn’t happy with Flex Machine. I think we can all agree that as a kid he has a right to a veto and name change if he really isn’t happy with the name chosen for him.
Next up was a THHH returner, Giap, first introduced to us by VC one or two years ago, he had completed 8 hashes by time he had joined us yesterday, or was it 5 or was it 4. Strangely his memory of the number of hashes, which provided many ideas especially as he is an engineer. Having said that, it was difficult to come up with something related to the numbers so we moved on to his Vietnamese heritage eventually coming up with Viet Dong – not to be confused with Viet Cong of course but in this case of having the amusing word of Dong in the name but even better, it can be abbreviated to VD!
So there we have it – 2 Complicated and Viet Dong newly christened by the THHH.
And that’s all folks, I hope you enjoyed and see you on the next one.
On On!
GH xx
