Hairy Clam and Just Herve, the Clam’s college friend, laid the extensive trail for 14 happy hashers in Beaumont yesterday. The trail was rugged, and challenging as we come to expect from Hairy Clam; 9km for the short and 13km for the long and some short but steep hills to skid down and struggle up too.
The route went through extensive woodlands with serious checking leading to multiple, well-marked false trails that took real effort to discover. Eventually the two groups of hashers arrived and regrouped at the beer stop, which was thoughtfully located at an orientation table. This table indicated the direction to noteworthy Pyrenean peaks, theoretically visible but sadly lost in haze (Please note Its Complicated; we needed our RA to arrange better visibility).
We started off from our rest and refreshment for the last 5 km passing around a farmyard guarded by an aggressive dog. Thanks to VC arriving first (being on a bicycle!!) he alerted the rest of us to the dog threat and by the time we reached it, the owner was there to hold it back and complain of our presence, which Hairy completely dismissed, as we passed.
It was a real hash, much commented in the circle for its beauty, its length and the dog.
Cheesy Lollipop conducted the circle and together we;
Rewarded the hares Hairy Clam and Just Herve, for their huge effort in such a long well marked trail.
Welcomed 2 Virgins; Just Herve, who hared on his first hash and Just Luke, Cheesy’s nephew.
Rewarded two returners, Matilda and Bushman, for coming back after nearly a year of absence; their reason – we’ve now moved from Canberra to Queensland, Australia. Fair Dinkum cobbers.
Punished Just Luke for shortcutting; he was too fast on the trail without any added advantage.
Punished VC for riding his bicycle on the trail (back trouble was his reason & excuse) – attached photo shows the event.
Cheesy proudly mentioned all the travelling he and Glory Hole and some hard core THHH hashers have done in the past couple of months; Venice, Montpellier….so the circle rewarded him and called all the six French at this hash in to join his down down. It’s the biggest percentage of our host nationality that I can remember, so it was marked accordingly.
Hairy Clam and Just Herve were wearing a personalised, purple polo hash shirt that the Clam had sourced for 13 euro from E.SPORTS, which I think he said was in Villeneuve-Tolosane , contact@sports-e.fr, tel: 06 24 11 04 78
NEXT HASH
SATURDAY 12 July 2025; Cheesy Lollipop will hare and host a BBQ in Aussonne. Full details to follow by the usual channels.
August onwards we need volunteer hares please.
Thanks to all enthusiastic hashers – without you there would be no THHH. To you all old & new hashers we are looking forward to sharing time with you on the trail at the next THHH Hash.
